Fondant
Many people ask us about fondant. Fondant was originally used to cover fruitcakes that were shipped from England to the New World and has been used in Europe and Australia for centuries. It recently gained popularity in the U.S. because of its incomparably smooth finish on the outside of cakes and because it firms up well and is easy to handle. Fondant is an edible sugar paste made of powdered sugar, gelatin, glucose, glycerin, and water, and is used only as an icing (not a filling). Some people like the taste of it, and some don't. We find that guests who don't like fondant will simply peel it off and dig straight into the layer of buttercream underneath. We prefer to cover cakes in fondant for aesthetic reasons and because it helps keep the cake fresh.
Shipping
We don’t ship cakes...they are just too fragile!
Sheet Cakes
We don’t make sheet cakes as part of our business. The approach we take to our craft is design-oriented and providing one of a kind cakes to the client is our desire.
